GIVE Award
Girls Into Volunteer Experiences
GIVE Award (formerly our Violet Richardson Award)
G.I.V.E. is an award program offered through Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe and Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra. Soroptimist is an organization of women whose members volunteer in their communities. This award recognizes young women in grades 8 through 12 who volunteer in their school or community.
The award was previously named after Violet Richardson, the President of the first Soroptimist club in Alameda County in 1921. She believed in personal responsibility and the motto, “It’s what you do that counts.” Violet Richardson lived her life accordingly, as an active member in her community who was committed to creating opportunities for girls and young women.
If you believe in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win the G.I.V.E. award of $100 to you and $100 to the organization of your choice.
If you think you’d make a good G.I.V.E. award candidate, please complete the enclosed application and tell us about your volunteer action.
You can apply to our club in two ways either as an online application or as a hard copy. The online application should be forwarded to the Awards Chair at [email protected]. We will be happy to answer questions you may have.
If you or someone you know qualifies for this award, apply!
Hard copy applications are available at South Tahoe Middle School South Tahoe High School club and AVID Advisors, and George Whittell School counselor.
Application deadline: November 15.
