Scholarships & Most Improved Awards for our Youth
Our club provides many scholarships to graduating seniors. The local high schools have created a “common application” for youth to apply with through their high school counselors. Applications are evaluated by a committee based on several factors: financial need, academic success, essay quality, community service, previous employment, and extra-curricular activities.
We also recognize achievement and potential at Mt. Tallac High School with money set aside to award to students, including a young parent if recommended. Thanks for the Joy Rothschild Memorial Scholarship which is funded through Teri and Rocky Rothschild in honor of Joy and through the generosity of SITS member, Jeanne Prestella, we will continue to fund this award for more years to come.
In addition, we recognize the most improved students at our high schools and middle school. Two seniors are chosen by their counselors at each site and receive a small monetary honorarium for their hard work. Two students are also honored from South Tahoe Middle School as these youth have demonstrated the importance of their education.
