SITS for 2026-2027

Published Sept. 10, 2026

Meeting location change!

Sept. 24, 2026 we will meet at the Lake Tahoe Historical Society’s Toll House. Bring a chair!

Today’s meeting was opened by President Lois.

Lydia’s invocation theme spoke about anger and how it’s not good for us to hold onto it. “The stupid thing about anger is how people hurt you and then you let them keep hurting you by being angry about how they originally hurt you. It’s a vicious circle,” by Susan Colasanti.

Guests today: Donna Yaeger and Ernie Claudio.

Sunshine: many good wishes for Theresa’ daughter and family and to Ernie who’s been dealing with birds flying into his windows.

Check the member calendar for the Fridays President Lois is holding office hours from 9-10 a.m.

Today’s business meeting began with a gift from President Lois: binders for each of us to keep us organized! Thank you so much Madam President and much credit to her granddaughters, Olivia and Milena, for all of their help putting the binders together. There will be more materials given to each of us throughout the year, but an important section is our final Policies and Procedures which contains descriptions of our new 3 Service Pillars and descriptions of Board member responsibilities.

Committees are now meeting to evaluate past projects for their efficiency and impact on our community.

Members are asked to sign the SIA Code of Conduct which explains procedure for resolving conflicts.

Kudos to Lisa Huard and Jeanne Prestella who wrote and submitted a grant to SNR to fund a Culinary Bootcamp Program at Mt. Tallac High School. This will be a collaboration between, SITS, Mt. Tallac, and Lake Tahoe Community College.

Lois proposed a clothing exchange joint social activity with the noon club.

Conversation continued around our 50th anniversary fundraiser. Details coming soon.

What a busy Business Meeting!

Thought for the Day:

Community Safety Tidbit: South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue is linked into a program purchased by El Dorado County. It’s the SMART911 program. Go https://ready.edso.org and create an account. Emergency services can gain important information on your home and who is in it as they are responding. You can provide as much or as little information as you want. Things like an elderly parent, pets, family members, Oxygen tanks in the home, etc., help first responders help you. Please take the time to check it out and SHARE.

Vista Rise Collective (previously Live Violence Free) is always looking for volunteers. There are many opportunities, for both direct and indirect services. Cash donations are always welcome, but every Tuesday they accept non cash donations such as furniture, clothing, etc. For more information about volunteering, donations and/or services provided click here.

PETAL KINDNESS is a non-profit organization that rescues flowers to uplift others and helps divert green waste from landfills. They are in desperate need of vases. Drop them off at 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Leave behind wooden pallet wall.
