Mt. Tallac had its first prom ever and we were lucky enough to be a part of it. Funds for this endeavor were the result of the beautiful art work left to us by Keith Williams after the passing of his beautiful wife and SITS member, Sandy. We used his talents and sold all of the items through an online auction and provided the funds to the remarkable staff who work with the students. On Saturday, June 3, we helped to transform the American Legion into a fun and festive evening for the kids. The report we received from teachers later that evening simply melted our hearts. We thought we’d share!
The following is a message from Amy Jackson: All I can say is WOW. The prom was one of the most magical I have been to in 20 years. The students came at 7:30 p.m. on the dot and not one left before 10:00 p.m. There was so much gratitude and love in that room with every type of student enjoying the beautiful night that Sandy and Keith provided. Thank you so much for all of the delicious food and the help with decorating! At the end of the night, the students got up one by one to state their appreciation to the staff for putting in the time and creating the family they feel at Mt Tallac. They even stayed to help clean up. Working with students who carry burdens that are sometimes more than they know how to bear comes with an appreciation for the smallest acts of kindness. I wish you could have all been there to witness it. Sandy and Keith most definitely were. So much appreciation to each of you, Amy and Mt Tallac staff!
