Jeff moved to Tahoe in 1971. in 2004 Jeff tested his house for Radon and realized he’d been living in a house with high levels of Radon for 24 years without knowing it. Radon is a gas that is produced when subterranean granite decays and is the 2nd largest cause of lung cancer. Much of Tahoe sits on top of granite so Radon is a huge health issue. He decided to find out how to fix it, and then became a certified radon mitigator with the state of CA. Jeff has worked tirelessly working to make changes in the CA Radon Program, locally in Tahoe and throughout El Dorado County. He gives presentations, like the one he gave us, and he latest effort was to join the Barton Health Patient and Family Advisory Council to try and persuade Barton Health to get doctors to talk with patients about testing their house for Radon and another new program where every new mother would take a home radon test kit when the leave the hospital.
