What a perfect time of year to learn about the Tahoe Rim Trail Association! Morgan Steel, executive director gave us a brief history of humans in the Tahoe basin and how it was affected by their activities. She went on to explain the history of the Tahoe Rim Trail from 1973 when the idea was first conceived to 2001 when 165 miles of multi-use trail around Lake Tahoe was completed. Since then the organization has focused on Trail maintenance and improvement, wilderness education, including backcountry camps for youth, and meeting the new challenges of climate change, tree mortality, increased use, wildfire, development and emerging technologies such as rones and e-bikes. Last year over 400,00 people used the Tahoe Rim Trail. Will you be one of them in 2018?
